First, I rested.
Well, maybe not quite first…
It’s probably more accurate to say I crashed into rest after running fast and hard far too long.
Climbing corporate ladders, and scaling hierarchies; then blazing new paths and navigating the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, all while raising kids and trying to be the best Christian I could be, the truth was that my career was my biggest accomplishment, but was also a high-speed marathon that was wearing me out.
Finally, after a couple of years of painful personal loss, mounting business challenges, and my five kids hitting adulthood, I really had no choice but to take a break.
What I’ve learned since then, and the fruit from that season of rest has been so much more powerful than I could have anticipated.
